Wikipedia defines Elopement: Colloquially speaking, is often used to refer to a marriage conducted in sudden and secretive fashion, usually involving a hurried flight away from one’s place of residence together with one’s beloved with the intention of getting married.
At A Beautiful Florida Wedding, our wedding officiating and planning experience with couples eloping is a bit more planned than that definition, but every bit as magical.
Recently, we planned and officiated the elopement of a faith-filled couple who wanted a simple albeit beautiful ceremony.
Timing on our end remained flexible as the ceremony was scheduled for a weekend when hurricane Dorian seemed to take aim at Florida.
The bride to be and I kept close contact and thanks to the flexibility of herself, our company, and the hotel food and beverage manager, we were able to move the ceremony to an earlier time and bypass the rain (which came in torrents at their originally scheduled time 5 hours later).
We were so excited to pick up the bridal bouquet and grateful to the florist who came into her shop on a Sunday just for us. We were so excited as the bouquet we ordered was exact, and even more beautiful than the photo sent by the couple.
Being at thousands of weddings in almost 20 years, we never tire of witnessing the beauty of a couple’s love.
Elopements focus so completely on the couple that it is hard to miss all the nuances and expressions of excitement by both the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be.
Our hope and prayer is that the love we witness as officiants and wedding planners, will continue to strengthen and bless the elopement couples all their lives together.
In this case, we were certain that will be so.
